What do we know about ROBOTS?

     A newbie entering into the world of robotics has a kind of anxiety for sure like me to actually know what actually a ROBOT is?or how do we make them? how do they move? and many more . This series of articles is a short guide for all you people to know and dive into the introduction to ROBOTICS .

                    As a child what we termed robot was obviously our remote controlled car. Have you ever wondered that the RC car isn't actually a Bot! Then we know that there might about the factor that determines if a device is a bot or not .Yes! This is nothing but the ability of the device to think , sense and enact, in short we look if that device has a brain or not .This induces us to think about the definition of  'Automation and Intelligence'.  This actually means doing something smart.For example,A robotic arm,it picks of and places a object in another position,it identifies where to place and places it,this is a smart decision.This shows us that automation and intelligence go hand in hand.Providing a device or gadget only automation make it to do something,like allows it to pick up something.But giving it intelligence like vision is what together allows to pick it and place it at its exact place.Currently scientists are inculcating the power of automation and intelligence to build something great by Artificial Intelligence.Artificial intelligence(AI), the ability of a digital computer or computer-controlled robot to perform tasks commonly associated with intelligent beings. We can define Artificial Intelligence as the next step of automation. 

                    Let me take you through few examples and let us classify if it is a bot or not.A line follower, now what it does is that it senses,may it be through a camera,it identifies its path,now sends the sensed signal to its other part to think about and take the decision where to move next.so,this is certainly a bot.A bread toaster, let us assume it toast bread for us at a time of the day,be it morning,what will happen if we don't wake? Off course it gets spoiled right,the toaster doesn't know itself to adjust the time to bake as it doesn't think or sense anything.This categorizes it as not a robot.so,basically we must understand that only if a gadget has the ability to thin sense and respond it may be called a bot.Every search engine that we use may it be google,yahoo, firefox ,safari or any others, is a virtual ROBOT.
